Eagle near Yukon Border, Alaska

Soar Hawk, circle round.

Where are you bound

In your lazy flight?

Do you, like us,

Seek a new height

Of understanding?

Or are you less demanding,

Content with the joy of passage

Over a world of mere humankind?

I once envied you your soaring grace

And feeling clumsy

Wished to take your place.

Then God walked by

And put His hand on my shoulder,

So we wandered off

To sit on a rock in the sun.
